A long lost hello from The PB &J Fund…

Well it sure has been a while since we put up a blog post, hasn’t it?  Things have been CRAZY AND WONDERFUL here, and that might just be the understatement of our year. Two big changes came to The PB &J Fund a few months back. First: we opened the doors to The PB &J Kitchen– the official home of our offices and programming

All About Local Cucumbers, Plums and Melons!

How many different ways can we use cucumbers? As the star ingredient in all of our cooking classes last week at Boys and Girls Club at Cherry Avenue, cucumbers became a refreshing treat in a surprising summer heat wave. The kids prepared everything from Chilled Cucumber Yogurt Soup garnished with lemon mint ice (in star shaped ice cubes!), to Grilled Chicken Shwarma with Greek

We survived the Ultimate Partner Week

As expected, the Ultimate Partner Week had a life of its own and we haven’t had a chance to report on the close of our week until now. On Wednesday our friends at the Cherry Avenue Boys and Girls Club helped us make 300 baked apple spice packets/ make-at-home kits, on top of Chefs Court and Alicia having normally scheduled cooking classes whipping up

Ultimate Partner Week…continued.

And so it continues: PB &J’s Ultimate Partner Week… By the close of Tuesday night, we are up to 10 partners. Last night, we partnered with Clark Elementary’s reading night to host a Market to Meal dinner.  Students read and took home Chato’s Kitchen, a creative story about mice sharing cheese quesadillas with their new neighbor…a rather sneaky cat.  So of course, we had

Let the “ultimate partner week” begin…

The PB &J Fund is lucky.  Really lucky.  We get to work with exceptional kids almost every day of the week.  But we are also lucky because we get to work with exceptional partners every day of the week.  Charlottesville has no shortage of amazing groups– and amazing groups that are always up for collaborating and sharing ideas on how to be more creative
