CHEF Kids is for youth participants, usually between the ages of 8 and 13. Our CHEF Kids programming is curriculum-based, with units that have a theme and gradually build on safety, culinary, mathematical and nutritional skills. Past themes include Around the World, Fast Food Makeover and Pizza, Pasta and More.
Specialized programs include Garden to Table, which emphasizes the complete food cycle from planting to harvesting to cooking, and a KSA (Kid Supported Agriculture) that empowers teens to participate in the production of sample recipes, the packing of produce shares and distribution to community members.
Our CHEF Kids partners include Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Blue Ridge, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Virginia, City of Promise and Lugo-McGinness Academy. Classes typically meet once per week for six weeks.
